We are delighted to offer a lovely new Homeshare opportunity to live comfortably and affordably in Waltham Cross in return for providing some practical support, companionship and a reassuring overnight presence to a lovely lady in her early 80’s.

Homeshare Location:

Situated in Waltham Cross and only a couple of minutes’ walk to the mainline Waltham Cross station with regular trains into Liverpool Street and also close to Cheshunt Station. There is a bus station just around the corner.

Accommodation on Offer:

Double bedroom in a 3-bedroom, clean and well-maintained house in Hertfordshire with an easy commute into central London. The room includes a double bed and fitted cupboards. There is a shared bathroom. The house has a kitchen/diner, garden and garage. Good Wi-fi is available.

What the Opportunity involves:

In return for the low-cost accommodation (£199 pm), we are looking to match our lovely homeowner with a mature, sensible and respectful sharer, someone who is more than happy to provide a reassuring presence at night, some friendly companionship and a little help at home. No personal care is permitted in a Homeshare.

Our sociable Italian homeowner is in her early 80’s. She has lived alone since her husband died some years ago and her children and many grandchildren all adore her. They are a close family. She is relatively steady on her feet and still driving, with no specific health issues, although she feels anxious being in the home alone, particularly overnight.

Our homeowner is friendly, warm and easy-going. She enjoys the company of others and is keen to share with someone who is happy to spend some time chatting and sharing life experiences particularly in the evenings, popping to the shops together sometimes, sharing a few meals.

She spends her day mostly at home, watching game shows and Italian television, doing some laundry or cleaning or gardening – she is very house proud – and she often goes to see family who live locally or to do grocery shopping. She cooks from fresh every day, typically with an Italian influence.

A devout Catholic, she prays daily and watches mass on Italian TV, as well as Italian game shows and films; she also enjoys soaps like Emmerdale.

Our homeowner is looking to share her home with an amiable and kind female sharer (preferably age 35/ 40++) with a good sense of humour, who is ideally working or studying outside the home or on a hybrid basis, who will sleep in the home each night (unless they have a trip planned and can give sufficient notice so that a family member can stay over), and who will be happy to provide some regular warm company in the evenings, and some practical support, for example local grocery shopping and errands, putting the bins out, help with IT on the iPad.

Cost: £199 per month

This is a monthly facilitation fee for our matching and ongoing monitoring service. You do NOT pay any rent to the Homeowner. Bills are included, although you may be asked to make a modest contribution to the Homeowner towards the energy bills, and council tax.
