We are delighted to offer a new Homeshare opportunity to live comfortably and affordably in a beautiful part of London (Islington/Hackney borders) in return for providing some practical support, companionship and a reassuring overnight presence to a lovely lady in her 80’s.

Homeshare Location:
Very well situated in a pretty residential area with many local bus services. A 12-minute walk to Essex Road station and 5 minutes walk to Haggerston Station.
Accommodation on Offer:
Large double bedroom on the first floor of a 3 -storey period home. The room includes a double bed, wardrobes, chest and large window. Sole use of separate bathroom. A separate study room can be available if required.
A cleaner comes to the property once a week. Good Wi-fi and the house has its own pretty garden.
What the Opportunity involves:
In return for the low-cost accommodation (£199 pm), we are looking to match our this homeowner with a quiet and kind sharer; someone who will provide a reassuring presence at night, some stimulating companionship and practical support (approx. 10-15 hours per week). No personal care is permitted in a Homeshare.
Our friendly and engaging homeowner is in her 80’s. She lives independently since being widowed over 10 years ago. She has two daughters who live locally and three adult grandchildren – they are a close knit and supportive family. She sometimes feels a bit wobbly on her feet and uses a stick to get around at home, but she is generally in good health and super sharp.
She has an 11yr old cat and both her daughters have small dogs that visit occasionally.
Our homeowner had a successful and interesting career as a journalist and has enjoyed living in many different countries over the years. She leads a quieter life nowadays and is currently working on a novel. She likes to spend time in her study writing every day; she enjoys listening to the radio and watching BBC dramas and plays. The family try to get together on a regular basis to watch a film together and she has good friends who pop in to see her for meals sometimes.
Our homeowner is looking to share her home with a quiet, discreet female sharer who would enjoy some companionship but also respect her need for space. She is keen to share with someone who is interested in world and current affairs, and literature, and open to discussion and sharing opinions. She is bright and well educated and enjoys learning about the developments in the modern world from equally curious individuals.
Our ideal sharer (our homeowner’s preference is to share with a female) would work outside of the home, or on a hybrid basis, and would be happy to help with some local shopping or errands, putting the bins out, reading the meters, and cooking a meal to share together a couple of times a week. A reassuring overnight presence is essential. Our sharer would need to be comfortable around both cats and dogs.

Cost: £199 per month
This is a monthly facilitation fee for our matching and ongoing monitoring service. You do NOT pay any rent to the Homeowner. Bills are included, although you may be asked to make a modest contribution to the Homeowner towards the energy bills, and council tax if you are working.
