Homeshare – Ealing, London W5
We are delighted to offer a lovely Homeshare opportunity for someone to live comfortably and affordably in West London, close to shops, cafes and transport links, in return for providing around 10 hours a week of practical support around the home and companionship, and an overnight reassuring presence to an older lady.
Available from: Early September 2025.
Homeshare Location:
A lovely and large Edwardian family home excellently located just twenty minutes’ walk or a short bus ride to bustling Ealing Broadway and tube station (District and Central lines) and ten minutes walk to Acton Town (District line) with the Piccadilly line and Overground stations close by offering easy access to the West End.
Accommodation on Offer:
A double room with stunning views overlooking the garden and local park, with plenty of wardrobe space, a dressing table, desk and bookshelves together with a private shower room and toilet, and a separate double room for working or studying from home. There is a lovely kitchen with storage space for the sharer’s items and washing machine. Wi-fi is available. A cleaner comes once a week and the home is very clean and tidy.
What the Opportunity Involves:
In return for the low-cost accommodation (£199 per month), we are looking to match our older homeowner with a bright and friendly female sharer who is happy to provide some daily companionship and practical support, and a reassuring presence at night. No personal care is required or permitted.
Our homeowner is in her mid-80’s, an intelligent, interesting, independent and sociable lady. She is partially sighted in one eye and slightly hard of hearing, however she enjoys company and good conversation and family and friends pop round often to visit her, or she goes out with them for occasional meals. She taught for many years in a secondary school until she retired and her interests include sociology, philosophy, history, theology and politics. She takes Italian speaking classes and goes to church when she can.
Our homeowner is used to sharing her home as she has had mature students staying with her over the years and more recently a homesharer for the last year who is now moving on as her studies are soon to be completed.
This opportunity would suit a kind, tidy and considerate female, who is either working perhaps as a teacher or other profession, or studying for a masters or PhD. Someone who is warm and open-minded, who is interested in history and current events, and would enjoy chatting with the homeowner about books, culture, philosophy and life. Our homeowner does enjoy her own company and space mostly but would enjoy some daily catching up and chat, and to share a meal maybe once or twice a week.
Practical support will include helping with any IT or technology issues, assisting with occasional phone calls, online or local food shopping, some household chores such as putting the bins out or getting things from the high shelves and a bit of help in the small garden but mostly this is about providing a reassuring presence at night.
Our homeowner has an elderly cat so the Sharer must be happy to live with a cat. Unfortunately, other cats are not welcome.
We are looking to match this Homeshare opportunity soon. If it is of interest, please get in touch with us preferably by email, telling us about yourself, your work/study situation, and interests, and particularly why you consider that you would be well suited to this opportunity. Thank you
Cost: £199 per month
This is a monthly facilitation fee for our matching and ongoing monitoring service. You do NOT pay any rent to the Homeowner. Bills are included, although you may be asked to make a modest contribution to the Homeowner towards the energy bills, and council tax.
