Homeshare – Mill Hill, London NW7

We are delighted to offer a lovely opportunity for someone to live comfortably and affordably in this pretty area of NW London, in return for providing some companionship and practical, light task support (approx. 10 hrs pw) to a lady about to turn 80.

Available from: June/July 2025.

Homeshare Location:

A short (8-10) min walk to Mill Hill East Underground station (Northern Line) and close to good, local bus services.

Accommodation on Offer:

Large double bedroom on the ground floor of a lovely flat in a purpose-built block overlooking a park in a quiet, residential area. There are wardrobes and a chest of drawers in good condition and a beautiful separate bathroom for the sharer. A cleaner comes to the property once a week. There is currently a sofa bed which is being changed to a double bed and a dressing table which can be moved out. There is room for a desk. Very good Wi-fi.

What the Opportunity involves:

In return for the low-cost accommodation (£199 pm), we are looking to match our lovely homeowner with a cheerful and easy going female sharer; someone who will provide companionship and a reassuring presence at night. No personal care is permitted in a Homeshare.

Our friendly homeowner turns 80 later this year. She recently broke her wrist in a fall and is recovering with a splint which will be shortly removed and is otherwise physically well. She leads a quiet life; her daughters live nearby and are very involved in her day-to-day life.  One of them walks by each day with her dog and often pops in. Since losing her husband 10 years ago, our homeowner is perhaps less sociable but previously enjoyed travelling and playing golf. She is keen on word games and puzzles and plays bridge twice a week a short drive away.

She likes to go for a walk in the morning if the weather allows and watches TV in the mid afternoon and goes to bed from around 9pm.  She is easy going and would enjoy the company of a mature, female sharer who is happy to share some companionship time in some evenings and occasionally during the day to pop to the local Waitrose with her (5-10 minutes walk), for a walk in the park outside the flat, or to the local garden centre when possible. She would benefit from someone gentle and patient, who may like to share an occasional evening meal or watch some television or do a puzzle together who will also provide peace of mind as an overnight presence.

Our homeowner would prefer to share with someone who is working or studying a couple of days a week from home, or flexibly if possible, rather than someone in a full time job outside the home.  She tends to be out with family or playing bridge on the weekends.

She has an automatic car available, and if the sharer is a driver, that would be an added bonus.

We are looking to match this Homeshare opportunity soon. If it is of interest, please get in touch with us preferably by email, telling us about yourself, your work/study situation, and interests, and particularly why you consider that you would be well suited to this opportunity. Thank you.

Cost: £199 per month

This is a monthly facilitation fee for our matching and ongoing monitoring service. You do NOT pay any rent to the Homeowner. Bills are included, although you may be asked to make a modest contribution to the Homeowner towards the energy bills, and council tax if you are working.
