We are delighted to offer a new and lovely opportunity to live comfortably and affordably in north London, in return for providing some practical support and companionship to an older gentleman (approximately 10 hours per week).

Available from: 10th February 2025.

Homeshare Location:

The home is well located in a quiet residential street, approximately 10 minutes’ walk to Woodside Park tube station (Northern Line), with good bus links and local high street shops close by.

Accommodation on Offer:

A large double bedroom with own separate shower room, toilet and study on the first floor in a well maintained four-bedroom house with garden (the homeowner’s bedroom and bathroom are all on the ground floor). Shared use of kitchen. Good Wi-Fi available. A cleaner comes weekly and there is a gardener.

What the Opportunity Involves:

In return for the low-cost accommodation (£199 per month), we are looking to match our Homeowner with a well-suited Sharer who is happy to provide some daily companionship and a reassuring presence overnight. No personal care is permitted.

Our Homeowner is in his early 90s, very bright and engaged. He has enjoyed a long and ongoing recognised career in teaching and education. He is avid reader of modern literature and loves music and opera particularly (he previously played the cello). He keeps up to date with current events and politics.

He has a large family who are local and supportive, and he likes to be independent, cooking for himself (he is a vegetarian) or chatting with friends and neighbours and he goes out every day, weather permitting.

For the last four years, our Homeowner has enjoyed a very positive Homeshare with his current sharer who has provided practical support and some companionship and is now moving to a different area for her work.

The homeowner’s ideal sharer will be a male or female. Someone who is kind, considerate and would enjoy providing some companionship in the evenings perhaps chatting to him about mutual interests or books and music or watching tv. Practical help would include keeping the kitchen tidy, putting the bins out, help with basic IT, accompanying on the odd walk as well as overnight reassurance.

A non-smoker please. A driver would be great, but not essential.

** The Homeowner has a parakeet. This opportunity would not suit someone who wants to bring other pets. **

Cost: £199 per month

This is a monthly facilitation fee for our matching and ongoing monitoring service. You do NOT pay any rent to the Homeowner. Bills are included, although you may be asked to make a modest contribution to the Homeowner towards the energy bills, and council tax if you are working.
