What the Opportunity entails:
Our Homeowner is a gentle, kind lady in her mid-80’s who lives alone in a well maintained bungalow in a quiet residential road.
She suffers from terrible loneliness and would like to share her home with a kind, good-natured, female Sharer, who in return, will provide some practical support and daily friendly companionship, as well as the reassurance to her that there is someone else in the home at night.
Our Homeowner has quite painful arthritic knees which prevents her from enjoying a very active lifestyle so she is at home alone quite a lot. A cleaner comes to the house most mornings, and she keeps up with her family and friends mostly on the phone.
Her interests include reading, writing and literature, world politics and watching a good tv drama, and also Hindi tv. She enjoys cooking for herself, mainly simple Indian meals such as dhals and chapatis.
Some daily conversation and companionship is the Homeowner’s main wish in a Homeshare, sharing some meals and watching tv, helping her to use her iphone and ipad. Other practical support might include some grocery shopping, putting the bins out, watering the plants and accompanying her on some outings or appointments. No personal care is permitted.
The accommodation on offer is a single room with a desk and wardrobe, use of own bathroom and the home’s other facilities – kitchen, lounge, dining room and garden. There is wifi in the home.
This opportunity could suit someone working full or part time, or a mature student.
If you are interested, please email us with your contact details and a little information about yourself including your work/study commitments, and interests. We will then get in touch with more information.
Cost: £150 per month.
This is a monthly facilitation fee for our Homeshare service. You do NOT pay rent on top of this. You may be required to make a contribution towards Council tax (although full time students are exempt).
